Abstract

Tak jauh meleset dari perkiraan-perkiraan sebelumnya, ternyata memang perekonomian dunia 1988 mengalami pertumbuhan cukup mengesankan. Performance yang baik ini, untuk pertama kalinya sejak memasuki dekade 70-an, terjadi dengan relatif merata pada negaranegara industry utama. Jepang masih tetap yang paling dinamis. Daya perekonomian negeri ini dalam meningkatkan permintaan domestic mampu mengkompensasikan penurunan surplus perdagangan sebagaimana yang dituntut oleh beberapa Negara industry Barat. Amerika Serikat mengalami pertumbuhan GNP 3,8 persen. Angka pertumbuhan yang sama dicapai oleh empat Negara Eropah utama. Secara keseluruhan, pertumbuhan ekonomi negara-negara OECD mencapai 4 persen.
