Abstract

Whether unemployment rate increases or decreases is questionable regarding the result of this study. An increased unemployment rate in Indonesia, as 1 mantioned above, is found by using demographic analysis. Based on demographic analysis, they forecast that labor force participation rale was increasing, and therefore unemployment rate was also increasing. In this study, I analyze the behaviour of the labor force participation rate by using economic determinants, whether a person will participate in the labor force or not will be determined by his or her economic condition like income, etc. In the case of tow income groups, an increase of income will reduce their working hours or they may not participate in the labor force. They prefer to take leisure rather than working in the market. This tendency will lead to a decline in the labor force participation rate rather than increasing.
