The Development Of Small Scale Fisheries In Indonesia

Author

Listed:
  • A. Sidarto

Abstract

Marine fisheries potential within Indonesian territorial waters is estimated at 6.5 million tons per year (standing crop), whereby seventy (70) per cent, or 4.5 million tons per year, is the maximum sustainable yield. In terms of area and productivity, fish culture is expected to increase subject to the constraints of area, waters, and technology. In the long run. It is envisaged that fish culture in Indonesia would at least have the same potential as marine fisheries.
