The Value Chain of Ecuadorian Hard Yellow Corn. Challenges and Opportunities

Abstract

The value chain is a series of actions required to obtain a product or service, add value to the product, and bring benefits to those who produce it. The objective of this work is to describe the conditions of the hard corn value chain in Ecuador. The methodology consists of a critical review of the documentary information and analysis of institutional information, which describes the performance of the agricultural raw material markets, the commercialization of these actors, the operation of the corn value chain in Ecuador, and the strategies for this product. One of the results arises within the context of the development of Ecuadorian corn, the advantages due to the situation of the main exporters in America. The support provided by the State to the social actors involved in the organization of producers, taking advantage of it through the development of the value chain.
