Abstract

Karl Popper is one of the most important philosophers on contemporary science. His works related with both natural and social sciences are well known. This paper fries to provide some elements to answer the following question: is it sensible to apply Popper's methodology to economics? The topics developed are the validity of deduction, the conventionalist perspective of the Postulate of Rationality and the role of falsiafiability when the scientific status of some proposition is considered. All these seem to be a useful set of tools (not unique) for the analysis of the epistemological status of economic theories.
