Abstract

This article analyzes the effect that culture has on the model of Hersey and Blanchard ´s Situational Leadership styles, understanding by culture the abs-tract of behaviors of an individual or society. It will analyzed how two opposite cultures can influence leaders and their choices when leading the same group of followers. For this reason, a study tool is used in an oriental multinational company to identify the main trends of each leadership style that coexist in it, framed in the social culture that characterizes it. It also seeks to highlight the main features of each type of leader and to analyze the way they are affected by culture. It is concluded that culture plays a very important role and that, in some cases such as the one studied, it can represent a barrier against certain leadership styles, hindering the relationship with subordinates and way to lead them towards the achievement of objectives, diminishing the effective-ness of the leadership style that is, the culture can influence the style of lea-dership and its effectiveness.
