Abstract

90 évvel ezelőtt, 1935. április 15-én hunyt el a Magyar Nemzeti Bank alapító elnöke. A kitűnő pénzügyi szakember, gazdaságpolitikus évtizedeken át meghatározó személyisége volt kora gazdasági életének. Kiemelkedő szaktudását, vezetői, államférfiúi és emberi erényeit mutatja be báró Korányi Frigyesnek a Magyar Közgazdasági Társaság felkérésére tartott emlékbeszéde. A méltatásból megismerhetjük Popovics Sándor közgazdasági nézeteit - egyebek között - a piacgazdaság és az individualizmus előnyeiről, a magántulajdon szentségéről, az állami bürokrácia fontosságáról és korlátairól, a gazdaságpolitika legfőbb feladatairól, a túladóztatás (és általában a túlzott állami beavatkozások) veszélyeiről, valamint a külföldi tőke bevonásáról).
