A labdarúgó-világbajnokság kvóta elosztása páros összehasonlításokkal
[Football World Cup quota distribution with pairwise comparisons]

Abstract

A labdarúgó-világbajnokság selejtezőit a Nemzetközi Labdarúgó-szövetség (FIFA) hat regionális konföderációja szervezi, amelyek mindegyikéből előre adott számú válogatott jut ki a világbajnokságra. Tanulmányunkban egy, a konföderációk múltbeli teljesítményének összehasonlításán alapuló kvótaelosztást javaslunk. A bemutatott módszertan a hivatalos FIFA-világranglista kontinensek összehasonlítására való kiterjesztésén alapszik. Ennek során számos elméleti és gyakorlati kihívást megválaszolunk, és többféle modellváltozatot is bemutatunk. Az eredmények azt sugallják, hogy a FIFA által 2026-ra alkalmazott kvótaelosztás nem tükrözi a kontinensek közötti tényleges erőviszonyokat. Több európai és dél-amerikai csapatnak kellene részt vennie a jövőbeli világbajnokságokon, valamint az észak- és közép-amerikai, Karibi-térség magasabb kvótát érdemelne, mint az ázsiai. Mindez felhívja a figyelmet egy átlátható, legalább részben teljesítményalapú kvótakiosztás szükségességére.
