Emlékképek Magyarország uniós tagságának első éveiből

Abstract

2004. májusi csatlakozása és a 2011. évi magyar uniós elnöksége között eltelt időszakban Magyarország egyrészt az unió történetének kivételes időszakát élte meg új tagállamként, másrészt az elnökségi feladatok teljesítésével az uniós tagságból eredő előnyök érvényesítéséhez szükséges minden tapasztalattal rendelkező tagállammá vált. Ez alatt a hét év alatt részese lett az unió szerződéses rendszere megújításának, Európa-politikai stratégiát alkotott, átesett a pénzügyi keretek vitájának tűzkeresztségén, részévé vált a schengeni övezetnek, eredményesen teljesítette elnökségi felkészülési és mindennapi elnökségi feladatait, döntő szerepet játszott Horvátország csatlakozási tárgyalásának lezárásában; miközben lejártak olyan átmeneti időszakok, mint a kohéziós támogatások felfuttatása, a munkaerő szabad mozgása vagy a tőkemozgások átmeneti periódusa. Kitartott az a lendület, az az elkötelezettség, az a hit az unió és Magyarország közös érdekeiben, amely a magyar csatlakozási tárgyalásokat is jellemezte. Az alábbiakban a szerző azokat az emlékeket idézi fel húsz év távlatából, amelyek az uniós tagság első hét évében meghatározó jelentőségűek voltak. Teszi ezt a teljesség igénye nélkül, alapvetően személyes közreműködésének élményei alapján.
