Abstract

This paper examines the likely effects of the introduction of the single European currency, whose arrival means that the development of the economic space of the European Union will be completed. Two aspects of the forthcoming changes are analyzed. First is the process of monetary integration, which will spread over three years, and is here reviewed chronologically. Second is the final effect of this process on firms—how different company structures will adapt and what actions will have to be taken with regard to the management of human resources.
