Individual Attitudes towards Labour Emigration in Bulgaria (a descriptive analysis)

Abstract

The article explores the individual attitudes towards Labour emigration in Bulgaria and the object of research is the population in Varna (Bulgaria) region. The subject of research is external emigration among the population of Varna. The aim is to highlight the main attitudes towards emigration for the purpose of work, based on push/pull model, viewed at a micro level in terms of personality. The methods used are questionnaires, descriptive statistics and analysis. The results show that the prospect of better wages is as a major incentive for emigration, and the dominant influence on the sensitivity of the individual to this incentive have age, family status and subjective perception of poverty. A major obstacle to emigration for work is the loss of social environment.
