Effets combinés des mécanismes de gouvernance sur la performance des institutions de microfinance au Cameroun

Abstract

L’objectif de cet article est d’analyser les interactions des mécanismes de gouvernance afin d’identifier les combinaisons qui peuvent améliorer ou détériorer la performance des institutions de microfinance. Pour atteindre cet objectif, une régression multiple a été appliquée sur les données collectées sur un échantillon de soixante-deux institutions de microfinance camerounaises. Les résultats montrent que les institutions privées de microfinance doivent avoir des conseils d'administrations de grande taille, ce qui leur permettrait d'une part de mettre l'accent sur les prêts de groupe et sur le taux d'intermédiation financière et d'autre part de bénéficier des compétences multiples des administrateurs afin d’améliorer leur performance. Par ailleurs, les résultats montrent qu’en présence des femmes au conseil, le prêt de groupe et le taux d’intermédiation financière améliorent significativement la performance sociale de l'IMF. Par contre, en présence des femmes au conseil, le taux d'intermédiation financière détériore la performance financière lorsqu'elle est mesurée par le rendement des actifs.
