Letter to the Editor---Bounds for Simplifying Estimation of Elevator Running Times

Abstract

The realism of an approximation to the running time of an elevator car during morning up-peak is studied. It is shown that the difference between maximum and minimum running times is very small for cases of practical interest. This small range not only verifies that the approximation gives realistic values for running time but also eliminates the need for complicated probability calculations for up-peak elevator studies.
