Abstract

The May, 1955, issue of JORSA carried two articles which seem to call for comment---one, a serious article by Bertram Klein entitled “Direct Use of Extremal Principles in Solving Certain Optimizing Problems Involving Inequalities” and two, a short, humorous one by Paul Gunther entitled “Use of Linear Programming in Capital Budgeting.” We believe that readers of JORSA will be well advised to treat the humorous article seriously and the serious article humorously. Operations Research , ISSN 0030-364X, was published as Journal of the Operations Research Society of America from 1952 to 1955 under ISSN 0096-3984.
