Technical Note—A Sample Survey of Operations-Research Activities at the Corporate Level

Abstract

This paper describes and discusses the results of a national survey covering the activities of the operations-research department at the corporate level. The major points considered are: (1) the organizational structure of the department and its position in the corporation, (2) the internal structure of the department, (3) budgets and savings, (4) use of services, and (5) a study of the activities in the past, present, and future.
