Karbondioksit emisyonu üzerinden çevre baskısı değerlendirmesi: Çevresel Kuznets eğrisine panel veri uygulaması

Abstract

Çalışmamız çevre ve ekonomi ilişkisine dair önemli bir hipotezi ortaya koyan Çevresel Kuznets Eğrisi (ÇKE) Hipotezi üzerinedir. Dünya ekonomisini temsilen 45 ülkenin 40 yıllık verilerinden oluşan panel veri analiziyle, çevre ve ekonomiyi temsilen, CO emisyonu ve kişibaşı gelir arasındaki ilişkinin türü araştırılmaktadır. Yazındaki ilk dönem çalışmalarına olan eleştiri dikkate alınarak serilerin durağanlığıyla eşbütünleşme sınamaları etraflıca gerçekleştirilmiş ve tartışmalı bulunan özellikler ortaya konulmuştur. Sabit etkiler yönteminin tercih edildiği panel sınamalarında, düzey ve logaritmik düzey serilerle tahmin edilen modellerin matematiksel olarak farklı sonuçlar dahi verse ilişki türü olarak tutarlı ve benzer ÇKE ilişkilerine işaret ettiği görülmektedir. Modellerin kendi içindeki tutarlı sonuçlarına karşın modellerde hassasiyetten (sensitiveness) kaynaklanan sağlamlık sorunları saptanmıştır. Son olarak tahmin edilen ilişki ve dönüm noktalarının seviyeleri ve konvansiyonel incelemeden çıkan sonuçlar birleştirildiğinde karbon emisyonu yapısındaki artışın kısa dönemde artacağına ve özelde Türkiye’nin gelişmekte olan ülke olarak bu artışı kısa vadede net olarak gösteren ülkeler içinde olacağı sonucuna varılmaktadır.
