Enflasyon eşiği ve ekonomik büyümeye etkisi

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, Türkiye için 2003:01–2009:12 dönemi enflasyon oranı ve ekonomik büyüme arasındaki doğrusal olmayan ilişki ve ekonomik krizlerin bu ilişkiye etkileri araştırılmaktadır. İlk aşamada doğrusal olmama sınaması sonuçlarına dayanarak enflasyon eşik değeri belirlenmiş ve enflasyon-büyüme ilişkisi, iki-rejimli TAR modeli ile incelenmiştir. Buna dayanarak elde edilen ilk bulgu, eşik değerinin altındaki ilk rejimde, düşük enflasyonun ekonomik büyümeye istatistiksel anlamlı pozitif etkisi varken, diğer yandan eşik değerinin üstünde oluşan ikinci rejimde, yüksek enflasyonun ekonomik büyümeye etkisinin istatistiksel anlamlı ve negatif olduğudur. Analiz dönemi içinde yer alan 2007 küresel krizinin etkisi araştırıldığı ikinci aşamanın bulgusu ise, bu krizin sadece enflasyon eşik değerini değiştirdiğidir. Bu bulgu, artan enflasyonun negatif etki nedeni ile büyüme için önemli bir engel olacağını göstermektedir. Bu da küresel krizlerin enflasyon oranı ve büyüme üzerindeki etkileri nedeni ile Türkiye Cumhuriyet Merkez Bankası’nın enflasyonla mücadelede kararlı bir tutum sergilemesi gerektiğini, ayrıca karar alıcıların ve politikacıların da bu ilişkileri dikkate almasının önemini ortaya koymaktadır.
