Türkiye’de tüketim fonksiyonunun dilim regresyon yöntemi ile tahmini

Abstract

Bu çalışmada önce tüketim harcamalarının belirleyicileri ile ilgili teorik tartışmalar gözden geçirilmiştir. Daha sonra, Türkiye’de kişi başına tüketim harcamalarının dağılımının normal dağılım göstermemesi nedeniyle klasik doğrusal regresyon modelinin tahmin edicilerinin etkinliğinin azalacağı tespitinden hareketle, kişi başına harcama ile kişi başına kullanılabilir gelir arasındaki ilişki dilim regresyon yöntemi (quantile regression method) ile araştırılmıştır. Bu yaklaşımla tüketim harcamalarını açıklayan değişkenlerin tüketim harcamalarının dağılımının farklı noktalarındaki etkilerini ortaya koymak olanaklıdır. Analizde kullanılan veriler Türkiye İstatistik Kurumu’nun 2005 yılı Hanehalkı Bütçe Anketi’nden alınmıştır. Çalışmada yaş, eğitim düzeyi, bir sosyal güvenlik şemsiyesi altında olmak, servet ve kır veya kentte yerleşik olmanın kişi başına tüketim harcamaları ile kullanılabilir gelir arasındaki ilişki üzerine etkileri de ampirik olarak ortaya konmaya çalışılmıştır. Klasik doğrusal regresyon modeli bulgularına göre Türkiye’de marjinal tüketim eğilimi, 0.53’dür. Medyan regresyon sonucu klasik doğrusal regresyon modelinin marjinal tüketim eğilimini olduğundan düşük yansıttığını ortaya koymaktadır. Yaşın kişi başına tüketim harcamaları üzerine etkisi negatiftir. İşsizliğin özellikle yüksek eğitim düzeyine sahip bireyler arasındaki yaygınlığı, eğitimin tüketim harcamaları üzerine etkisinin tespitini güçleştirmektedir. Sosyal güvenlik şemsiyesi altında olmak ve servetin marjinal tüketim eğilimini düşürme yönünde etkide bulunduğu gözlemlenmektedir. Kır veya kentte yerleşik olmanın ise marjinal tüketim eğilimini önemli ölçüde etkilemediği tespit edilmektedir.
