Türkiye’de enerji tüketimi ve ekonomik büyüme: 1960-2000

Abstract

Sanayileşme ve kentleşme ile birlikte iktisadi faaliyetlerde enerji kullanımı giderek artmaktadır. Bu nedenle enerji tüketimi ve ekonomik büyüme arasındaki nedensellik ilişkileri uygulanacak enerji politikaları açısından önemlidir. Bu çalışmada, ticari enerji kullanımı, reel enerji fiyatları endeksi ve GSYİH arasındaki nedensellik ilişkileri Türkiye’nin 1960-2000 dönemi yıllık verileri kullanılarak incelenmektedir. Nedensellik sınamalarında Toda ve Yamamoto (1995) çalışmasına dayalı gecikmesi artırılmış VAR yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Sonuçta, ticari enerji kullanımından GSYİH’ye doğru işleyen tek yönlü bir nedensellik ilişkisi bulunurken, reel enerji fiyatları ile GSYİH arasında iki yönlü ve reel enerji fiyatları endeksinden ticari enerji kullanımına doğru işleyen tek yönlü bir nedensellik ilişkisine rastlanmıştır.
