Abstract

Alexander Gerschenkron, iktisadi gelişmenin yalnızca bir yönüne değinerek kendini sınırlar: sanayileşme. Bu alan sınırlamasına zaman ve mekân açısından da iki eksen eşlik eder; XIX. yüzyıl Avrupa’sı. Bu çerçevede, sanayileşme süreçlerinde finansal kurumların özellikle de sınaî amaçlı kalkınma ve yatırım bankaları ve daha çok da devletin rolüne atfettiği özel önem ve kilit roller nedeniyle Gerschenkron, literatürde bir hayli tartışma yaratmış ve dikkat çekmiştir. Genel olarak bankacılık sistemi, üretim örgütlenmesindeki gelişmelerle yani “sanayileşme ve büyüme” ile birlikte değişmiş, farklı bir ifade ile sanayileşmenin finansman ihtiyacı, bankaları etkilemiştir. Giderek bankacılık kesimi, sanayileşme ve büyümenin yönünü belirlemiş ve hatta sanayileşmenin olmazsa olmazı haline gelmiştir. Kısacası; finansal piyasaların / bankacılık sistemin yapısı ve bu yapı içinde fonksiyonunu ifa etme tarzı sanayileşmenin daha iyi ya da daha kötü yönde gelişme kaydetmesini etkilemektedir.
