Türkiye''de Elektrik Tüketimi Ve Ekonomik Büyüme İlişkisi: Sektörel Bir Karşılaştırma

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı Türkiye''de elektrik enerjisi tüketiminin fiyat ve gelir esnekliklerini sektörler itibariyle kısa/uzun dönemde incelemeye, ekonomik büyüme ve elektrik enerjisi kullanımı arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemeye yöneliktir. Hata düzeltme modeli çerçevesinde uygulanan nedensellik testi GSYİH ile toplam elektrik tüketimi arasında çift yönlü bir nedenselliğin olduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Sektörel seviyede ise, sanayi ve ticari elektrik tüketimi ile GSYİH arasında çift yönlü bir nedenselliğin olduğu belirlenmiştir. Ampirik sonuçlar, elektrik enerjisinin Türkiye''nin ekonomik kalkınmasında önemli bir enerji kaynağı olduğunu göstermiştir. Ticari ve sanayi sektörlerinde elektrik talebinin gelir esneklikleri inelastik, ancak fiyat esneklikleri yalnızca ticari sektörde anlamlı ve inelastik bulunmuştur. Bu sonuçlar, ticari ve sanayi sektörlerde artan elektrik enerjisi talebini kısmaya yönelik fiyat politikalarının etkin olamayacağını ve ekonomik büyümenin sürdürülebilmesi için elektrik arzını arttırıcı bir politikanın uygulanması gerektiği görüşünü desteklemektedir.
