Abstract

The current international economic and political climate is governed by the emerging geopolitical tensions generated by the sharpening of the Ukrainian crisis that culminated in the Crimean annexation by Russia and the imposition of mutual economic sanctions between the EU and Russia. Authors' research has been centred on the economic links between the Ukraine, Russia and EU, highlighting the evolution of relevant macro indicators such as foreign direct investment and trade. The paper proposes through a foresight approach a scenario analysis in order to underline the risks and threats induced by the Ukraine crisis in the field of international economic relations.
