Leader Programmes Contribution To Boost Bottom-Up Rural Development In Eu

Abstract

Agriculture occupies a central position in the European economy, and this is the why this sector has the largest funding through the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). Analyzing the evolution of the reforms and regulations undertaken under the CAP, this work aims to summarize the advantages of bottom-up policy (bottom-up implementation) for financing rural development through the LEADER funding axis .In this article, a series of case studies based on the experience of the LEADER programme in some EU countries will be presented, with examples of good practice in rural areas while highlighting the advantages of this type of funding to boost sustainable rural development. At the end of the research carried out, a number of conclusions on rural development strategies will be highlighted through the LEADER axis implemented by the EU Member States in the financial year 2014-2020.
