The Impact Of The Covid-19 Pandemic On The Romanian Labour Market

Abstract

This article analyses the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the evolution of employment, unemployment, as well as the number of hours actually worked. It also presents the main measures which were taken by the Romanian government to support companies and protect employees during the health crisis, as well as the implications of the pandemic on various economic activities and labour demand. The research methodology is based on the analysis of social policies from the perspective of European integration, relay on statistical data provided by both the National Institute of Statistics from Romania and EUROSTAT. The conclusions of the study on the weaknesses and strengths of the Romanian labour market are presented in the light of the SWOT analysis.
