Expected Impact Of The Covid-19 Pandemic On Main Sectors Of The Bulgarian Economy

Abstract

In the current unprecedented, global context, more than two months after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bulgarian government has had to put in place increasingly restrictive measures to stop it. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused an economic shock with a significant impact in a multitude of industries andsectors of Bulgarian activity amid the uncertainty of the situation in terms of the resilience of the health systemthat was the major challenge of the struggle with this invisible enemy. The impact of this crisis is a certainty,being noticed a multitude of negative effects for most Bulgarian companies. To prevent a major economiccollapse the Bulgarian authorities have developed a set of public sector financial intervention measures.However these measures have an immediate impact on supply and demand and affect business and employees inparticular, especially in the health, tourism, culture, retail and transport sectors. In the light of the findingsabove, the present research, aims to analyse the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the main sectors of theBulgarian economy.
