Abstract

Competition policy is one of the main pillars of the EU common market. Its regulations contribute to preserving a competitive economic environment in the European Union, while ensuring equal opportunities for economic actors regardless of the Member State of origin and at the same time protecting the interests of European consumers. For its part, the EU's agricultural policy, enforced under the wider regulatory framework of the Common Agricultural Policy, aims to stimulate the sustainable development of the European agricultural sector, but also to support the European farmers. In the light of these realities, our research aims to present an overview of how the enforcement tools of these two European Policies intersect, particularly with regard to State Aid granted in the agriculture. Our analysis will be based on the main EU regulations and exemptions in the field, on the most recently available European statistics, and on the most relevant studies in the literature in the field.
