Abstract

Bio-medical or infectious waste has not received its due attention in developing countries like India. It is being collected and disposed off along with the municipal solid waste (MSW). Therefore, infectious waste management schemes should be designed carefully by taking in account the correct factors and giving them due weight age. Consequently, identifying the infectious waste factors for selecting best contractor becomes an essential and crucial process for a waste management scheme to be environmentally and socially viable. The major objective of this paper is to propose an analytic framework to provide infectious waste management experts a more effective and efficient model for prioritising factors for selection of contractors managing infectious waste.
