Abstract

Little is recognised about the linkages of green external drivers and awareness practices within the Malaysian industries. This paper aims to explore the possible interrelationships amongst these practices. To do this, a multi-dimensional conceptual model is developed comprise four latent constructs. These are government regulation (GR), environmental consciousness (EC), cost and benefit awareness (CB), and organisational culture (OC). A structured questionnaire based on the main latent constructs is designed and validated through industrial engineering experts. Both advanced programs (SPSS 23 and AMOS 24) were utilised to analyse the postulated four hypotheses. Findings show that among the four tested direct hypotheses; three are accepted (GR on EC), (GR on CB), and (OC on EC). One hypotheses (OC on CB) is found to be not significant and consequently rejected as it considered not vital. This paper is considered a reference for Malaysian manufacturers in their attempts to be green institutions.
