Implementation model of ISO 9000 for achieving business performance in Indian manufacturing organisations

Abstract

A tactical approach to improve the performance of manufacturing activities is to effectively adapt and implement ISO 9000 quality management system initiatives in the manufacturing organisations. Manufacturing organisations today tend to improve business performance by implementing quality systems at a strategic level. The objective of this research is to investigate the status of ISO 9000 quality system improvement initiatives in Indian manufacturing organisations and suggest a strategic ISO 9000 implementation model for the Indian industry, considering the vast literature review of ISO 9000 quality drives, the outcomes of the ISO 9000 questionnaire, survey and case studies. The model is a structured set of strategies that are integrated to help implement ISO 9000 successfully and can assist Indian entrepreneurs avoid the common problems and pitfalls during ISO 9000 implementation.
