Abstract

The process of solving problems using TRIZ (Theory of Inventive Problem Solving) is modified to form an analogy process, which is called the first stage analogy process. TRIZ solutions are the source designs of this process. The outputs of the first stage analogy, which are the TRIZ special solutions and relevant cases, are applied as an environment and to form the second analogy stage analogy process. By integrating the first and the second stage process, a new process for Analogy-based Design (ABD) is formed, which is a process model for two stages ABD. A design process for a sub-system of a paper machine is carried out using that model step by step.
