Abstract

This study conducts a comprehensive literature review of 259 studies investigating the pandemic impact on supply chain across the globe. This study provides a thematic analysis of the pandemic impact at: 1) countries; 2) sectors (manufacturing, services, maritime); 3) product supply chains (food, pharmaceutical); 4) sustainability (social, environmental). It further uncovers four areas of interest: 1) increased awareness of supply chain vulnerabilities; 2) lack of appropriate supply chain designs; 3) the potential benefits from the right usage of technology; 4) a supply chain paradigm shift on how consumers, companies, and governments perceive supply chains. The study discusses the managerial implications of the pandemic impact. Although there is literature reviews published in this topic to our knowledge, this is the first study that reviews comprehensively the relevant literature from different fields and disciplines.
