A proposed grey fuzzy multi-objective programming model in supplier selection: a case study in the automotive parts industry

Abstract

One of the research areas which have drawn authors' attention is suppliers' evaluation and quota allocation. In previous studies, suppliers have been assessed mostly by multi-objective decision making models when there are conflicting objectives. In this paper, the problems of supplier selection and quota allocation have been investigated based on conflicting criteria, where the accessible data are imprecise. One of the greatest achievements of the current study is selecting the superior suppliers from a large number in terms of conflicting objectives. Given that the data are defined as grey numbers, the grey multi-objective programming (MOP) model has been solved by goal programming (GP) method where aspiration levels are fuzzy. The proposed approach has been evaluated by studying a real case study in the automotive parts manufacturer. And finally, a sensitivity analysis has been carried out to figure out the effect of variation of criteria's values on the supplier quotas.
