Abstract

Vehicle fleet maintenance management is an important activity faced by decision makers within public administrations and companies devoted to passengers and freight transportation services, given the importance of fleet availability and reliability to keep a good operation via its service in uncertainty. Revised-DEMATEL and fuzzy set theory based on linguistic variables, have been used in order to evaluate vehicle fleet maintenance process in Moroccan administration to find the most important factors causing unavailability problems of the vehicles fleet. Using this method, the involved factors are separated into the cause and effect groups for conducting decision makers focus on those criteria (factors) that provide important influence. Following this empirical study the result shows that, within the cause group, the 'age, size and drivers' factor is the most important factor affecting maintenance service. By contrast, the 'effectiveness' is the most influenced of the effect group.
