Abstract

The cost of the materials, parts and services received from outside constitutes the major cost of a product production. In such situations, purchasing departments can play a key and basic role in expenses reduction. The best suppliers' selection is one of the most important and basic duties of purchasing departments because of the basic role of suppliers' performance on quality, cost, delivery and service, etc. Therefore, the use of accurate and efficient techniques to select the best suppliers is out of question. Hence in this study, a new prototype evaluation model called improved input efficiency profiling with common set of weights (IIEPCSW) model is presented that provides a logical, reliable, consistent and efficient procedure to evaluate the potential suppliers of an item and select the best supplier (single sourcing) under certain circumstance in single period. This model is a hybrid model based on input efficiency profiling (IEP) model that improves the performance of IEP model and removes its shortages. Also, by validation is shown that IIEPCSW model is efficient and valid.
