Abstract

In the Brazilian case, innovation, entrepreneurship and technological development are relevant and should be balanced through social effort and mobilisation. Governments, universities and businesses have made many efforts to encourage innovation in Brazil. The number of incubators and technology parks has experienced significant growth, more than doubling in the first decade of the millennium. The State of Paraná, the same phenomenon has occurred with the creation of the Network of Technological Innovation Centres, the Paraná Network of Incubators and Science Parks and Virtual Technology Park. This study aims to diagnose technology parks in the State of Paraná by addressing economic, environmental and social sustainability. The managers' first mission was to seek the economic sustainability and survival of micro and small companies that were located in parks and incubators. However, the results show that a new stage in parks has begun to focus on economic and environmental sustainability.
