Abstract

Investment on the information technology has a prominent place in understanding the growth of labour markets productivity in the USA after 1995. While investment on information technology enabled US firms to achieve high growth rates of both labour and total factor productivity, neither Western European nor Central European firms echoed the US experience. The European productive system has failed to implement forward-looking investment decisions. This paper is designed to help readers make sense of the complexity of information technology and information society in Poland, and describes challenges to keep the Polish economy competitive in the 21st century.
