Necessary skills for teachers towards digital information and communication technologies in the current era

Abstract

Digital information and communication technologies (DICT) have profoundly impacted people's lives in various sectors of society. Education is one of the areas where technology is used widely and intensively. Teachers are responsible for integrating DICT into the educational sector and must have certain knowledge, skills, and attitudes related to the use of technologies. Given this, it was sought to identify in literature the necessary skills for teachers in the face of DICT. The competencies here presented take into account that the fundamental role of the teacher in the classroom is to carry information and promote autonomy to students so they can build knowledge integrating DICT. As result, it was made a table with twelve skills necessary for teaching professionals to integrate DICT, among which are: the use of active learning methodologies, teamwork, and life-longing and agile learning.
