Abstract

This paper reports results from an empirical study of police investigations in Norway. Investigation performance was linked to the extent of Information Systems (IS) used to support investigative work. It was found that IS improve the performance of all investigative processes defined as value shop activities. Furthermore, out of 14 common systems used by the Norwegian police force, only two systems had a significant impact on investigation performance.
