Abstract

This research work investigates survey data from a national sample of female and male high school students concerning their entrepreneurship perceptions. Precisely, this study underlines if any significant gender differences exists regarding the attitudes and intentions for an entrepreneurship initiative. Entrepreneurs are undoubtedly the most important actors in our economy: the creators of wealth and jobs, the inventors of new products and services and the revolutionaries of the society and economy. However, the entrepreneurial spirit has always been conferred to men. Entrepreneurs are related to more masculine characteristics (Bird and Brush, 2002). Moreover, despite their important role in contemporary society, little research has been questioned about the motivation factors of women entrepreneurs and their emergence as the reasons of their success.
