Abstract

Mobile phones are the backbone of mobile communications and have experienced explosive growth in recent years. The mobile phone industry continually launches new technology to entice consumers. The introduction of new technology is unavoidable in a competitive environment; as a result telecommunication marketers have to deal with a high uncertainty regarding consumers' preferences and acceptance of various new technologies. Competition among mobile phone service providers in India is expected to grow more intense once the government allows private telecommunication service providers to roll out 3G services. The focus of this exploratory study is to study perception of the youth about 3G technology in mobile phones and the factors which affect the attractiveness towards 3G technology.
