Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to understand various types of innovations and classify them under a common platform and linking them through a framework. This paper gives a comprehensive framework to innovation literature by interlinking various innovations. This paper reviews pioneering works on innovation to develop the framework and then the framework has been validated through seven recent cases from India. Apart from substantiating the innovation typology, the seven selected cases describe how the firms gain competitive advantages out of each of the innovations. Firms can use the framework to understand the types of innovations happening in their organisation by relating their circumstances with those cited benchmark cases.
