Abstract

The objective of the study was to investigate the significance of personality traits (locus of control, need for achievement (NACH), risk tolerance (RT) and entrepreneurial alertness) on entrepreneurial intention (EI) among final year engineering students from the coastal Karnataka region. The study was conducted based on a quantitative research methodology for which a structured questionnaire was developed to collect data from 622 respondents. A random sampling technique was adopted for data collection. Collected data were analysed using SEM-AMOS and SPSS version 23. The result revealed that locus of control, NACH, RT and entrepreneurial alertness had a significant influence on EI and EI had a significant influence on entrepreneurial behaviour. The outcomes of this study will help academicians and policymakers in designing effective entrepreneurial programs and activities to foster student entrepreneurship.
