Abstract

Electricity's absence can be disastrous depending upon the extent of the outage. The defining factor that transforms an event from limited scope to catastrophic is that a disruption of the power grid can affect tens of millions of people and may persist for a long time. We discuss the criticality of infrastructure and identify various risks. We discuss possible related strategies and their limitations.
