Abstract

The article conducts analysis, systematisation and generalisation of data, which allowed comparison of the level of shadow economies of Ukraine and Russia with some countries of the world. To assess influence of the shadow economy on economic development of a country, it offers to use the cognitive approach, on the basis of which it selects priority directions of ensuring economic development of Ukraine with consideration of influence of the shadow economy. The article provides a cognitive scheme of influence of the shadow economy upon economic development of a country and uses this scheme to systemise knowledge about factors in their interconnection and interaction. It identifies, in the result of the conducted modelling, that the main factor that influences economic development of Ukraine is the level of its shadow economy. The use of the cognitive modelling of influence of the shadow economy upon economic development of a country, realised on the basis of the unity and totality of principles of consistency, reliability, completeness and comparability, would allow regular obtaining of objective and quality information and develop substantial analytical materials for managerial decision making on ensuring economic development of the country.
