Abstract

Changes in global markets have become more frequent and unpredictable, including the rapid introduction of new products and the constant variation of product demand. To obtain a competitive advantage, companies design manufacturing systems that, aside from producing high quality and low cost products, also allow quick response to market changes and consumers' needs. This study addresses the relationship between perceived competitive advantage and operative reconfiguration capacity. Indicators with more development potential for such capacity are shown. Data were taken from 15 big manufacturing companies in the central region of Coahuila state. The relationship between these variables is analyzed by obtaining information from 343 mid to high level employees. Statistical analysis confirms that reconfiguration capacity is directly related, positively and significantly with the perceived competitive advantage in the companies
