Abstract

There is evidence of the growing importance of outsourcing as companies increasingly delegate a greater number of functions. In Mexico, outsourcing has become a vital element of business strategies of many organizations. The first services that are delegated, in both public and private organizations, are cleaning and security. This research reports the quality of life of janitors and security employees who work in an outsourced format. Quality of life depends on working conditions, work environment, working relationship and personal life. The results show positive work environment and poor working conditions that are related to the type and location outsourced. The results also highlight poor results associated with low wages and the quality of life of the family, almost absent mostly, because of schedules and overtime that employees are forced to comply with. In addition some are subject to pressures and threats in some form, generated mainly by the limited job options they have. These treats directly impacts their family life, generating labor claims, evoking in some way images of the Chicago strike.
