Η Ξανανακαλυψη Τησ Μεγαπολησ Του Ανκορ Μεσω Τησ Τεχνολογιασ, Υπο Το Βλεμmα Τησ Ιστορικησ Γεωγραφιασ

Abstract

Το Ανκόρ υπήρξε η πρωτεύουσα της αυτοκρατορίας των Χμέρ που ήκμασε στην χερσόνησο της Ινδοκίνας μεταξύ του 9ου και του 13ου αιώνα, σήμερα στην Καμπότζη. Οι «μεγάπολη» είναι ένας σύγχρονος όρος που αναφέρεται στα υπερμεγέθη αστικά συγκροτήματα που όμως δεν είναι χαρακτηριστικό μόνο της δικιάς μας εποχής. Η πόλη του Ανκόρ αποτέλεσε μία από τις μεγαλύτερες σε πληθυσμό πόλεις στης εποχής της. Με την παρακμή του πολιτισμού των Χμέρ, παρά το μέγεθός της, χάνεται από τα μάτια του ιστορικού γίγνεσθαι. Ξανανακαλύπεται μόλις πριν μερικά χρόνια (2013), εξ αιτίας την χρήσης νέων τεχνολογιών ανίχνευσης του χώρου (Lidar). Η μελέτη προσπαθεί να συμπληρώσει τα κομμάτια του παζλ, της πρώτης γνωστής και της έκτοτε χαμένης συνέχειά της, μέσω της ιστορικής γεωγραφίας τέμνοντας τον χρόνο σε καίριες στιγμές της ιστορίας της.
