Abstract

The present article focuses on presenting the content of Stackelberg’s works that were published in Spain, some of them unknown to English speaking economists. This article also attempts to show the decisive influence that Stackelberg had during his three years in Spain (1943-1946). This influence was felt in the academic sphere, with the reinforcement of neoclassical ideas and the ordoliberal line in the Faculty of Political and Economic Sciences of Madrid and in the Institute of Political Studies, as well as in the sphere of Spanish economic policy, where, years after his death, it contributed to the implementation of the Stabilisation Plan in 1959. With this Plan, the Spanish economy abandoned the autarky that had been present from the end of the Civil War, and the foundations were laid for Spain’s future integration into Europe.
