Abstract

This paper is part of a PhD Research in progress, held at the Department of Communication, Media, and Culture at the Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences in Athens, under the supervision of the assistant Professor in Museology Mrs Andromache Gazi. The PhD thesis focuses mainly on the key challenges and issues when museums are invited to exhibit interpret and communicate the sacred objects they possess. The idea was born by a shared concern regarding the processes and the issues involved when museums of all kinds, exhibit and interpret religious artifacts. So, not surprisingly, during my research I have to deal with religious theories and also philosophies regarding religion. I often find myself wavering among concepts and sometimes totally contradictory ideas regarding religion.
