Developing China’s Marginal Regions: The Role of «The Open Border Belt»

Abstract

An analysis is made of «The Open Border Belt», which was created with the object of mitigating China’s economic disproportions, but which failed to noticeably change the economic status of the marginal regions. It is shown that the major effects from implementing the open border belt have been derived by open border towns
